$300,000 Lucky Day Lotto Ticket Sold In Petersburg
CHICAGO, March 11, 2022 – A resident from Petersburg is $300,000 richer after winning the top prize on Lucky Day Lotto during Wednesday’s midday drawing.
The winning ticket was sold at Ayerco, 302 N. 6th St. in Petersburg, and matched all five numbers - 4, 14, 15, 16, 22 - to score the grand prize.
Karen Conner, a cashier at Ayerco, learned that her store sold a lucky ticket after receiving a phone call from the winner. “The winner called and talked to the person who sold the ticket, then they came into the store and thanked us in person,” Conner said.
It wasn’t a total surprise when the store learned of the winner's identity, “I know this winner personally and they’re such a great person, I am so happy for them, because they deserve it.” Conner added.
This is the second time someone won a large prize amount at the gas station.
“Several years ago around Halloween, a person won $1 million on an instant ticket,” said Conner.
The retailer will receive a bonus of $3,000 (one percent of the prize amount) for selling the winning ticket.
Nearly 11,140 other prizes, ranging from $1 to $200, were won in this Lucky Day Lotto drawing. In all, players won more than $328,182 in this drawing.
The Illinois Lottery urges the lucky winners to sign the back of their tickets, keep them in a safe place, and call 1-800-252-1775 for more information on how to claim their prize. Guidelines for mailing in prize claims are available at: Illinois Lottery.com/winning. Winners have one year from the date of the winning draw in which to claim their prize.
