General Questions About the Illinois Lottery
Who can play the Illinois Lottery?
In order to purchase a lottery ticket from a retailer, you must be 18 years of age or older. To purchase a lottery ticket online, you must be: 18 years of age or older; a resident of Illinois; physically located in Illinois at the time of purchase; and have a registered Illinois Lottery account. The following groups are ineligible to play a lottery game at a retail location or online: members of the Lottery Control Board or any officer or other person employed by the Lottery Control Board or the Illinois Department of the Lottery; any subcontractor, or manager, director, officer, partner, employee or agent of said subcontractor, that is directly or indirectly involved in the management or operations of the Illinois Lottery; all Camelot Illinois employees; any auditor or other person directly involved in the oversight of any Illinois Lottery drawing; any spouse, child, sibling, or parent residing as a member of the same household in the principal place of abode of any persons identified above; any person who is registered at the time of purchase with the voluntary Self-Exclusion Database; and any other person prohibited by applicable State law or administrative rule.
Where can I play?
Eligible players can purchase Illinois Lottery games on the Illinois Lottery website, on the app, or at more than 7,200 retail locations spread throughout the state. To find a retail location near you, use our Illinois Lottery Store Locator.
Can I buy tickets in advance at a retail location?
Yes, Powerball®, Lotto and Mega Millions® tickets can be purchased in advance for up to 25 consecutive drawings by requesting the number of drawings from an Illinois Lottery retailer.
Pick 3 or Pick 4 tickets can be purchased for up to seven days ahead of time from an Illinois Lottery retailer.
What is a Quick Pick?
A Quick Pick is a set of randomly selected lottery numbers that are generated by the Lottery terminal, Illinois Lottery website, or the Illinois Lottery app.
How can I find out more about the jackpots?
You can find current jackpot amounts, complete draw schedules, and winning numbers on the Illlinois Lottery website or on the app. You can also call the Player Hotline at 1-800-252-1775 for additional jackpot information.

What is Megaplier?
Megaplier is an add-on to the Mega Millions game. For an additional $1, you can multiply your non-jackpot winnings by two, three, four, or five times. For example, if you add the Megaplier and match five white balls and the multiplier is five, the prize is $5 million. If Megaplier is added, it applies to all games played on the ticket; players cannot apply Megaplier to select game panels on a ticket.

What is Power Play®?
Power Play® is an add-on to the Powerball game. For an additional $1, you can multiply your non-jackpot winnings by two, three, four, five, or ten times. For example, if you add Power Play to your game and you win the Match 5 prize without Powerball, your prize amount will double to $2,000,000. If Power Play is added, it applies to all games played on the ticket; players cannot apply the option to select game panels on a ticket.

What is Extra Shot®?
Extra Shot® is an add-on to the Lotto game. For an additional $1 per game played, you may purchase a computer-generated Extra Shot number to increase your chances of winning non-jackpot Lotto prizes. If Extra Shot is added, it applies to all lines played on the ticket. The Extra Shot number is drawn separately from the Lotto numbers. If you match the Extra Shot number, you can multiply your non-jackpot winnings by 25 times.

Why did you change the Unclaimed Instant Ticket Prizes List?
We have made improvements to the Unclaimed Instant Ticket Prizes list by increasing the frequency of list posting and adding additional information to it. The list is now updated every few minutes and lists unclaimed prizes at ALL prize levels.
How can I see the Unclaimed Instant Ticket Prizes list on my phone?
Once you load the Illinois Lottery website on your mobile phone, tap the top left menu icon. Once the menu opens, tap the About the games section and then tap Unclaimed Instant Ticket Prizes.
Where do Lottery profits go?
By law, profits from all Illinois Lottery games support public education, capital projects and other special causes. Since its inception, the Illinois Lottery has contributed more than $20 billion in revenue to the state of Illinois.
Who determines which school districts receive Illinois Lottery profits?
The Illinois General Assembly determines how money in the Common School Fund is distributed. Although the Department of the Lottery contributes to these funds, it does not decide how that revenue is allocated.
